About Anish Kapoor's Hollow (2012)

Kapoor is one of the most significant sculptors working today, known for monumental works that explore scale, material, and the concept of the void. Hollow exemplifies his enduring interest in the space between perception and experience — a meditative, boundary-defying encounter that challenges expectations of what art can do.  Grafton Regional Gallery Director Jane Kreis said: "This is a rare and exciting opportunity for our region. Having a work of this caliber on display — and inviting our local artists to engage with it — speaks to the Gallery's commitment to connecting communities with world-class art."

Hollow (2012) arrived at Grafton Regional Gallery in July 2026 as part of the Australian Government's Sharing the National Collection program, remaining on display for two years.
