PRENTICE HOUSE EXHIBITION APPLICATION GUIDELINES

The Prentice House exhibition program provides local artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in a professionally staffed regional public gallery. Exhibiting artists can promote their work to new and diverse audiences and connect with the Gallery’s program of contemporary exhibitions and events. Applications are open to Clarence Valley artists at any stage of their career.

SUBMISSIONS DUE: 4PM MONDAY 30 JUNE 2025

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Applications are open to artists residing in the Clarence Valley local Government area.
  • Open to all artists at all stages of their careers.
  • Works must have been created in the last two (2) years.
  • Group exhibitions of up to three (3) artists will be considered.
  • Applications will be assessed on quality of exhibition concept and audience appeal.
  • Applicants will be notified of assessment outcome within six (6) weeks of closing date.
  • GRG staff will liaise with successful applicants regarding exhibition dates and details.

ARTWORK

  • All artworks must be wall based and not exceed 100cm in width (framed).
  • The suggested optimum number of works is: 10 – 15 (maximum 20 works).
  • Artworks must be ready to exhibit with correct hanging hardware (D-rings).
  • Unframed and 3D works are not suitable for the space.

     

    INSTALLATION AND EXHIBITION

  • Exhibitions will run for a period of approximately eight (8) weeks.
  • Artists are responsible for delivery and collection of works, and for transit insurance.
  • GRG’s team of art handlers will manage the placement and installation of work.
  • GRG reserves the right not to display work deemed unsuitable for public display.

     

    CAFÉ REQUIREMENTS

  • Prentice House is co-located with a busy café where food and beverage is served.
  • Café activities and events are separate to GRG programs.
  • Prentice House hours are subject to café trading hours.

     

    PROMOTION

     

    ARTWORK SALES

  • Prentice House exhibitions are selling exhibitions.
  • All exhibited artworks must be for sale.
  • A GRG commission of 33% is applied to all artworks.
  • Exhibitions will be promoted via GRG social media channels, newsletters, and local media outlets.

SUPPORT MATERIAL

  • CV (maximum 1 A4 page max)
  • 8 good quality images – (300dpi / 1mb JPEGs).  Images should reflect the work you intend to display. NB: maximum 10MB submitted electronically by email
  • Image captions including artist name, title, date, medium, dimensions
