David Carroll: Colour my World
Memories of growing up in Britain, emigrating to Australia with his wife and young children in 1970 and life experiences, are catalysts for David's image making.
David Carroll is a Clarence Valley artist who has been exhibiting locally for ten years. He graduated from Southern Cross University, with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours in 2016.
Colour my World is an apt title for his latest exhibition in which colour is pivotal. When combined with elements of abstraction, including symbolic and metaphoric allusions, the impact is profound.
Memories of growing up in post war Britain, emigrating to Australia with his wife and young children in 1970, and his life experiences here, are catalysts for his image making.
A recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease has provided a challenge for David and a new focus for his creativity. Now in its second year, his monthly artists journal, “Damn Parkinson’s”, is an insightful and highly creative commentary on living with the disease.
