Gallery collection, flowers, floral, Ken Done, Prentice House, exhibitions
The third instalment in the gallery’s series of floral exhibitions, Beautiful Flowers showcases pieces from well-known Australian artists whose works feature flowers in a range of contexts such as floral arrangements, natural landscapes, still life and abstraction. All of the works in this exhibition are from the Gallery’s permanent collection.
In 2008 Ken Done the Gallery’s Patron donated 135 of his prints to the Grafton Regional Gallery Collection. This considerable gift presented to the gallery provides a visual history of the iconic Australian artist’s printing career and established the Ken Done Collection. Three of these vibrant works Pink Vase and Orange Flowers, Frangipani and Tangerine are featured in this exhibition.
Other artists whose works are featured include Regional artists Robyn Sweaney, Christine Willcocks and Digby Moran.
The recent suite of floral exhibitions aims to showcase the range of styles and artistic qualities of artworks from the Gallery’s extensive collection for Gallery visitors to enjoy.
